Time to go back.
I'm reading my post that I wrote 5 months ago - on moving out from Warsaw for almost half a year. Which have just passed - I don't know when. Again, I'm sitting in the midst of suitcases, because it's time to go back. And again, I feel this unnamed fear of what awaits me. How will it be. Leaving aside the stress connected with my life's biggest exam, which I'm having already in less than two weeks. My desk is stocked with notes, books and codes, and in my head I'm thinking to not forget anything.
When you live in one place, every day having the same view from the window, passing well known shop and meeting familiar faces in the elevator, you don't even wonder whether the place you live in is good for you. Only when we move, leave for a little our 'everyday', to which our eyes are accustomed to, we can see everything from a different perspective.
And I don't know where my place is, because both my hometown and Warsaw are mine. However, both not completely. When I was 18 years old and I was thinking about the future, so differently I imagined my life to be in 10 years ahead. I thought it would be stable, stacked, adult. I don't know whether it's good or bad that is not the case. I still don't have my place and have no idea where I'll be in half a year from now. On the one hand, I want to have some peace, but on the other - it contradicts my nature. In the end, I'm restless. But I think that somehow it's gonna be ok. I won't stand like this too long and probably I'll go somewhere. And the days, they won't be going slowly. They'll be running. And rarely will I look back. As usual.

A jednak. I przed oczyma znowu mam wyraźne wspomnienia.

I znowu pakuję walizki.

Mam w sobie nadal dużo nadziei i optymizmu. I tylko zamiast 19 - 27 lat.
8 years ago we had a beautiful autumn. Sunny, warm and gold. In the orchard next to my house there were plenty of apples, branches were sagging under their weight.
8 years ago I was packing my suitcase and, excited and smiling to hide the fear, I drove to Warsaw to study law, to finally be in one city with a close, as I then thought, person. In the end, to cut the umbilical cord and live like a grown-up, away from my parents.
8 years ago I was at the funeral, saying goodbye to an important person. And today I think: "it's impossible that it's been so long now"... Yet it is. And I have clear memories in my head.
8 years ago I was 19 years old with a heart full of hope and optimism that I was beginning a new life in a new place, with new people.
***
8 years later we have a beautiful autumn again, in the orchard near the house - we can experience a 'natural fertility', as I found out last weekend, standing among hundreds of apples just under my feet.
And I'm packing my suitcase again. You can see me smile but I'm little afraid deep in my heart, wondering what it's gonna be like soon.

Thursday Run
Biegnę wzdłuż parkanu i nagle zza drzew przebłyskuje oświetlona fontanna. Jej widok mnie kusi i wbiegam do Ogrodu.
A. miała rację.

Thursday, September 17th, 7:15 p.m. I'm going to run. My left knee hurts a little, I am poorly warmed up. I run, first down the street, then I stand up against the dark, a little scary in the evening, Saxon Garden. "Run there or not?" - I think and choose the way around.
I've had a headache for three days now. I don't know whether this is due to excess of work, learning or computer ... Or wine yesterday. Probably all at once. At night I dream of strange things - I'm trying to catch a 20-centimeter mosquito, then pick up the phone, have a strange conversation and sit down with the impression of it, in the end I'm at a party and lose my shoe. I wake up and I think that's impossible that I slept seven hours. I feel like I spent just three hours in bed instead.
I run along the fence and suddenly an illuminated fountain shines through the trees. Its view tempts me and I run into the Garden. Somewhere in the back of my head I hear my mum's words not to walk alone after dark. But I run into the alley, and among the trees it is so empty. First, it is slightly uncomfortable - to be alone in a dark park. But I stand by the fountain, take a picture, it is so beautiful. I continue running, thinking that this "scary" Garden is not so bad. Maybe, as often happens in life, many things seem to us a lot worse than they actually are.
Trees cast shadows, all the time I step on a leaf or husk of a chestnut. I feel warm drops of sweat on my temples. It's time to go back. A. was right. Running is a great sport, but it is not a good choice when you have too many thoughts in your head.

August 25th
It's unbelievable how everything changes. Day by day. And you don't have anything for sure, except yourself. One day you feel safe, and the next you don't know how it will be next week. Perception changes accordingly to what happens in your head. First, you think that a month is a lot because it's 30 days after all. But then you stay in front of the calendar with disbelief, seeing that today is August 25th. And it's a month ago when your long-awaited vacation began. Vacation which today is so distant that again you need holidays by the sea.
It's normal that we experience ups and downs. That life is like a sinusoid or roller-coaster. That the work satisfies us, and soon the only motivation to get up in the morning are friends from the office. One day you think you have everything. Your have the stars and the moon you watch lying on the grass on a summer night and in the morning - also the sun, which lazily wakes you up for life. And then, in a moment it's all just the weather.
You meet interesting people, often get close to them, but change is inevitable. There come new ones. You think "I am done, I'm not making friends any more." But, with astonishment, you see that the new ones are not so bad, but still...it's not the same.
It is such a pity that summer is over and in a week we already have September.

On beauty.
Bo z jednej strony to oczywiste, że dzięki ładnej buzi można wiele zyskać - pan policjant potraktuje nas łagodniej, dostaniemy zniżkę w sklepie, dziecko wyciągnie do nas rączki.
Naprawdę piękna i mądra.
Najważniejsze to polubić siebie. Znać swoje wady i zalety.
"Paulina, write a post - pretty people have a better life" And so I was going to do. I 've been thinking on it for a few days, analyzing the 'problem'. Because,
on the one hand, it is obvious that with a pretty face you can gain a
lot - a cop will treat you gently, you'll get a discount at the store, a child will pull its hands to you. On the other hand, this beauty sometimes "hurts" - as, in her latest single "Pretty Hurts", sings Beyonce. Such sticking of "patches" is unnecessary. Often this pretty face covers a lot of problems. And it is harder for a beautiful girl to gain a sympathy of uglier girlfriends. Not to mention the fact that at work it will be better to co-operate rather mainly with men.
Yes, you can write a lot about that. But - is it worth it? I deliberately abandoned this volatile topic that I could dedicate today's post to. I will not throw platitudes like "What matters is inside." Sure, that counts. But searching for the one, we first pay attention to one's appearance. Because you simply cannot see a good heart or stability ...
So what's with all this beauty? The idea to write about the fact that pretty people have an easier life was given to me by a girlfriend. Really beautiful and smart one. Watched by more than a half of men in the street (I saw it myself!). About which everybody would clearly say 'attractive'. The problem is that she doesn't see it herself. Complementing other people, she forgets that fact that she is unique.
Beauty is a relative thing. Something that seems to be mediocre for one, others would really like. The thing is to like yourself. Know your advantages and disadvantages. To be able to see what's unique in you and to laugh at your own mistakes. Enjoy success. Be aware of yourself - but not to be vain. It's difficult, but extremely valuable feature, which is learnt with age. And when someone tells you a sincere compliment, just thank. Because that's what is beautiful.

Thank God tomorrow is Friday
It's 9 p.m. and the thermometer shows 23 degrees. At the end of May we suddenly have a hot weather and it's so wonderful, with lush greenery around. People are happier, eat lunch at restaurant gardens and every day, after work, they go for just "one" beer or a glass of wine. The little boy on the bus, with great interest, asks: " Dad, is this summer yet?", putting all the passengers in a better mood, even though their butts stuck to their seats.
Today I was going to learn cause soon my exams start, but instead I rolled my wardrobe upside down, trying some dresses on and packing my suitcase for the weekend. A comunion-wedding season is in full swing. It's funny, but most of my friends from school years already have a ring on their finger, so I get less and less invitations for weddings. Gabi says that her and her husband are waiting for invitations from their friends' kids, maybe someone will invite them. Yet, they still have weddings of some "recycled friends" ...
Today I thought that a lot of people in my life came suddenly and they were suddenly "gone". Some relationships were ended and I regret them, and some had faded in a very natural way - because they were good at the very moment of my life. Sometimes we need each other just only for a little - to comfort ourselves, to have fun together or cry together. The most valuable acquaintances are for life. But, at the beginning it is difficult to tell whether the fact that we laugh at the same things means that it will always be like this. Time will tell everything.

Sunday moodboard.
The weekend is slowly coming to an end. It's time to switch and from the party-bed mode we need to smoothly go to the office'n'lunch one. I don't like Sundays, especially in the afternoon because I
already feel too much weight of Monday somewhere in the back of my head ;)
Although today I spent a really nice time - alone and with friends.
After this weekend and a few conversations, I have such a small, perhaps a bit trite, reflection. Namely, that you need to find a good space in life and enjoy little things. Because, living from day to day, sometimes it seems that we lack a reference point, some deeper purpose in what we do. And often it's just one step to a really bad state of mind and a sense of helplessness.
And it's not worth doing anything in spite of yourself, making others happy but feeling a little uncomfortable inside. Cause you'd rather have to live in harmony with yourself and your own conscience. Even when our decisions seem to be not so good for others, yet sometimes that really pays to be selfish and choose what is important to us. In the end, happiness and joy in life begin in our head.

Zmiany. Changes. Changements. Změny. Cambios.
Zmiany. Czasem nieuchronne, są wynikiem upływu czasu. Innym razem przychodzą
niespodziewanie. Albo też musimy podjąć trudną decyzję, by się
dokonały. Dlaczego tak bardzo się ich boimy? Z wygody, strachu przed nieznanym.
Wnioski? Cieszę się z tych wszystkich zmian, jakie w nim zaszły. W moim przypadku nowe okazało się lepszym.
Changes. Sometimes they're an inevitable result of the passage of time. Another time, they come unexpectedly. Or we have to make a difficult decision so they can happen. Why are we so afraid of them? Because of convenience or fear of the unknown. Cause the things as they are - even though not always the best, yet still repetitive - give us some sense of security.
Even for me, a person unstable, maybe even a little unpredictable, fearing of a routine and boredom, changes are associated with something difficult and unpleasant at first. As consequences of changes are seen and felt usually much later - when excitement and emotions are over. When they become an integral part of everyday life, as the next piece in our puzzle. Then we'll be able to say whether they turned out to be good for us.
But is this really worth being afraid of changes? Expecting them to be difficult. Thinking that much time will pass before we'll be able to get used to the new reality. Last night I found a note on the phone from January 2013. Something that I would normally delete after a week, has been preserved in a strange way. A year ago I wrote, in one short sentence, what was my life like those days. Conclusion? I am pleased with all the changes that have taken place in in it. In my case, the new turned out to be better.

Merry Christmas
Obejrzałam "Love actually", wyciągnęłam trochę świątecznych ozdób, włączam co 2-3 dni "Merry little Christmas" Franka Sinatry, w pokoju wesoło mrugają lampki.
After yesterday's "Herring party" I woke up at 11:00. Working late and red wine could be felt today. I've decided to beatheadache with a walk on this beautiful Saturday day. In disbelief, I look at the calendar and think that in three days this time we will sit down for Christmas Eve dinner.
This is the first year when I don't feel the coming Christmas. I'm trying to put myself in the right mood. I watched "Love Actually", pulled out some Christmas decorations, turn "Merry Little Christmas" by Frank Sinatra every 2-3 days, lights cheerfully flash in the room. I sent a few Christmas cards. Yes, I am in the dim percentage of humanity still writing wishes, drooling stamps and sending colourful postcards, hoping for a response. And... somehow it hasn't helped. Maybe it's the weather which is more like in October than December. Warsaw has seen snow in December just for one night.
Or maybe it's because I'm busy - with work, learning, meetings - and I don't have quite the sense of elapsing days. This year, I don't take part in the preparation, not helping in baking cakes, dressing trees in the yard, arguing with my dad about which lights to hang. I'm going home for Christmas on 23 December in the evening and in the morning I'll wake up on Christmas Eve. Then I hope to feel the magic and childish impatience. That this would be the moment for the first star to shine. Again, we'll divide the wafer and, hiding this one tiny tear of emotion, we'll wish ourselves health, love - so may it be true and for the whole life (or at least for more than a month), success, peace. I'll softly sing one of sad Polish carols. Again, I won't try herring and eat too much noodles with poppy ...
Merry Christmas :) !

Deep Monday Thoughts.
Recently, I've been thinking of how many barriers we set ourselves in life. Not very often do we take a spontaneous decision to do something we really want. We say "I shouldn't", "It's inappropriate", " What would friends at work, neighbours or mother say?" Is it worth thinking always what at the moment "I should" do? Why do we decide with our head and so rarely with our heart?
I can't go on a first date to his apartment because it's not proper. Although we'd just be sitting on the couch. I will not sing in a karaoke bar, some friend may see me. And, as far as it may not be relevant to go to the office in a leather mini skirt and fishnet stockings, then in a coloured sweater with a reindeer - a week before Christmas - I think so. The most important thing is to be aware of choices and decisions we make. Often we are stuck in customs and hackneyed conventions, blocked with the environment we live in, with the fear of gossip among friends or a comment from the family. And it's worth, from time to time, to stop and think what it is that we want in life. What makes us happy at the moment.

It is difficult to give up the attitude of a correct person, the one which friends or family want you to be. It's for people close to us that we become proper, we wear hated turtleneck because our wife likes it and uncomfortable high heels because our husband can't stand us in flat shoes. But we also dispense with pleasure at our own request, although we know that we'll be fully unsatisfied. We don't order a third cake at the bakery because the lady behind the counter may look disapprovingly at us. We won't kiss, even though in our mind our legs shake of desire - cause it's only a second date. A question is whether it enjoys ourselves? And how long can one withstand such a braided network of meeting someone's and not their own expectations? And yet the best way to get rid of temptation... is to follow it.
